G2 Axle and Gear Dana 44 G2 Aluminum Differential Cover

When you are making your way across the badlands, you are leaving your rear axle open and vulnerable to a couple of major threat.  One of those threats is from high temperatures and the other threat is from hard knocks.  There is a way for you to protect it from both of those threats with a single part.  That is the differential cover that is made by G2 Axle and Gear.  This differential cover has been sculpted from a piece of aluminum and stylized to be a direct fit component.  It is armor for the off road that can take the beating from the trail while lowering the internal oil temperatures.  This will keep your gearing going strong all over the badlands.

So what is it that makes this differential cover stand apart from the rest?  Actually, it is all in the build.  The differential covers that are made by G2 Axle and Gear have been formed from a proprietary type of aluminum that is light weight and this aluminum actively works to cool the axle oil while you are driving.  Aside from the thermal control, this differential cover has been given reinforcing ribs and it has been shot peened as well as heat treated so that it can survive all of the punishing blows that it will get on the trails.

This differential cover has been engineered to give you a fit that is free from leaks.  It has a mounting surface that has been fully machined and it comes to you complete with the silicone sealant as well as with all of the hardware that is necessary for installation.  These differential covers that G2 Axle and Gear makes are simple to maintain because they have integrated drain and fill plugs.  In addition, they come in a variety of options for the finish and they also feature the G2 logo right in the middle of them.

Oh yeah, they also have a 30 day warranty.

G2 Axle and Gear Dana 30 Master Installation Kit

When someone re-gears a 4WD vehicle it is generally done in an effort to get more torque out of it.  The additional torque is a necessity for that larger wheel and tire package you might have just added.  Additionally, the more torque you have, the easier it will be to climb those massive hills.

If you main type of driving is done on the highway then you might want to go with lower gear ratios.  While this won’t give you much of a boost in torque, it will give you a better fuel efficiency.  The acceleration that you get will be enough to get you going without sending your eyeballs out through the back of your skull.

On the other hand, if you tow your 4x4 to the trails or just enjoy spinning the tires in the mud then you might want to choose a higher gear ratio.  The con to this one is that the top speed will be one that is limited.

If you are in doubt it is a good idea to go a single ratio higher,  This is because as a rule, we tend to keep adding weight to our rigs which in turn requires additional torque.  And who knows, you might one day want to go with even more massive tires than what you already have.

There is something you need to remember though.  When you go out and buy new pinion and ring gears you will more than likely need to get a new master installation kit for every set.  This is a kit that will include all of the marking compound, ring gear bolts, pinion nuts, crush sleeves, pinion seals and bearings that you will need to complete the installation.

The master installation kits made by G2 Axle and Gear have all of the components that you will need in order to properly install the ring and pinion.  The Master Installation kit even includes those hard to locate components such as the gear marking compound, locktite, silicone sealer, ring gear bolts, carrier bearings, pinion bearings, a pinion seal, crush sleeve, replacement pinion nut and a proper shim kit.  If you ever go into a parts house and ask for these components, 9 times out of 10 they will look at you like you are asking them for a rocket ship.
